Booking a wedding photographer feels like stepping into the unknown. You scroll through portfolios, look at pricing guides, and try to figure out who is the right fit for your day. You probably have a few burning questions sitting in the back of your mind—the ones you might feel a bit awkward bringing up in a first meeting.
Let's get those out in the open right now.
1. "We are incredibly awkward in front of the camera. How do you handle that?"
I hear this from 95% of the couples I work with. Almost nobody feels completely natural having their picture taken right away.
My approach is entirely about connection. You won't find any stiff poses or requests to hold an awkward smile for ten seconds. Instead, I give you gentle direction that creates natural movement. The goal is to give you space to just focus on each other. When you are paying attention to your partner instead of the camera, the awkwardness disappears completely.
2. "Does it matter if you haven't photographed at our venue before?"
Not at all. In fact, arriving at a venue with a fresh set of eyes often results in the most creative, unique work.
A seasoned professional understands light, composition, and the flow of a wedding day regardless of the location. The technical skills remain exactly the same. I always scout new venues thoroughly beforehand. By the time your wedding day arrives, I already know exactly where the best light will fall.
3. "Do you need us to provide a strict shot list?"
For your family group photos, yes. For the rest of the day, no.
My style is documentary and editorial. If I spend the entire wedding with my eyes glued to a clipboard checklist, I will miss the real, unscripted moments that actually define the atmosphere of your celebration. The tear wiped away during the ceremony, or a massive laugh during the speeches—those are the fleeting moments you want captured, and they happen when the photographer is watching the room, not a piece of paper.
4. "How much coverage do we actually need?"
It depends entirely on your plans for the day.
If you are having a relaxed, intimate wedding, six to eight hours might be perfect. If you want the morning preparations captured right through to the late-night dancefloor, you are looking at ten or more hours. We sit down and map your timeline out together before you book anything, so you never pay for time you simply don't need.
