I am Martin

I didn’t take a conventional path to wedding photography—and honestly, I think that’s exactly why I excel at it. My approach is built on a unique blend of military precision, deep technical expertise, and an absolute love for honest storytelling. Before I picked up a camera full-time, I spent six years serving in the British Army. That chapter of my life instilled a level of calm, focus, and adaptability under pressure that you simply can't learn anywhere else. On a fast-moving wedding day, those skills are my secret weapon. They allow me to anticipate moments before they unfold, seamlessly navigate unexpected changes behind the scenes, and ensure your day remains completely stress-free.

115+ Years of Experience: From Film to Digital Artistry

My creative journey began over 15 years ago, rooted in the timeless and disciplined world of traditional film. In those early days, shooting weddings on film taught me to slow down, read the nuance of light, and wait for that fleeting, split-second emotion before ever pressing the shutter.

Today, I bring that same deliberate, artistic intentionality to my digital workflow. Using state-of-the-art mirrorless technology, I combine classic photographic discipline with cutting-edge quality. This ensures every frame is rendered with breathtaking clarity and rich, organic tones—even in the softest candlelit receptions and challenging low-light venues.

With over 150+ weddings beautifully documented, I have refined a seamless, solo-shooting approach. I know exactly when to step forward to guide a moment and when to step back, ensuring that your day is preserved honestly and elegantly, without ever feeling intrusive.

I am incredibly proud to be a trusted, preferred vendor at some of the most stunning luxury venues across Dorset and the South England—from the vibrant coastlines of Bournemouth and Christchurch to the historic countryside of Bridport.

“From the very start, he made the whole process stress-free.”

We couldn’t be happier with our experience working with Martin as our wedding photographer. From the very start, his communication was excellent – he took the time to get to know us and understand exactly what we were hoping for in our photo collection. In the lead-up to the big day, he was organised, friendly, and reassuring, which made the whole process stress-free.

On the day itself, Martin was incredibly patient and discreet, allowing us to simply enjoy each moment while he captured them beautifully. He worked seamlessly around our schedule, fitting in the couple’s shots without ever making us feel rushed. The previews arrived the very next day (which was such an exciting surprise!) and when we received the final shots, we were absolutely delighted – every image is stunning and full of emotion.

Martin is highly professional, flexible, and a true pleasure to work with. We would recommend him without hesitation to anyone looking for a talented photographer who genuinely cares about getting it right.

My Philosophy

My approach to your wedding day is entirely relaxed, documentary-led, and editorial. I don't believe in turning your celebration into an artificial, staged photoshoot or letting a rigid timeline dictate your schedule. Instead, I blend into the background to capture the genuine energy, the unscripted laughs, and the raw emotion as it naturally unfolds.

At the core of everything I do is family. When I'm not behind the lens, my home life is beautifully busy with my wife and our three incredible children—two daughters and a son. They are my daily reminder of how quickly time flies, and exactly why preserving your honest memories matters so much to me.

I will always put you, your people, and your experience first—because when you are relaxed and completely in the moment, the photographs naturally become art.

If you are looking for an experienced, grounded photographer who values the real truth and beauty of your day, I would love to hear all about your wedding plans.

FAQ

How would you describe your photography style?

My photography style is defined by a high-end editorial and documentary-led approach that firmly prioritizes moments over perfection. Instead of forcing the day into stiff, choreographed poses, I blend into the background to capture authentic, candid emotions and unprompted laughter as they naturally unfold. When we do step away for portraits, the direction is relaxed and sophisticated rather than staged, resulting in a timeless, honest visual narrative that values genuine connection over clinical perfection.

What camera system do you shoot with?

I shoot with Nikon Z-mount mirrorless camera systems, paired with their high-end, professional S-Line lenses.

This setup gives me the perfect combination of lightning-fast, silent autofocus and incredible low-light performance. It allows me to work quickly, discreetly, and completely in the background without any loud shutter clicks disrupting those quiet, candid moments.

When it comes to color science, the Nikon Z system is a massive asset because it delivers incredibly true-to-life skin tones and rich, organic color rendering straight out of the camera. I pair that native color science with a clean, timeless editing style that focuses on natural warmth, accurate tones, and balanced contrast. My goal is to make the colors look exactly as beautiful as they did in real life on the day, avoiding overly heavy filters or passing editing trends so your images never feel dated.

Do you pose your couples or let things happen naturally?

I do a bit of both, leaning heavily toward gentle direction rather than rigid posing. I will never leave you stranded wondering what to do with your hands, but I also won't force you into stiff, unnatural postures that feel alien to who you are. Instead, I use relaxed prompts and movement to get the two of you interacting naturally. Once you are laughing, talking, or just comfortable in each other's space, I step back and let the real, unscripted moments happen. It is the perfect middle ground: you get the guidance you need to feel confident, but the final images still feel entirely like you.

What does a typical wedding day look like working with you?

A typical wedding day with me is designed to flow entirely around your plans, ensuring you actually spend your day celebrating with your favorite people rather than feeling like you are on a continuous photoshoot. I arrive during morning preparations to quietly capture the nervous excitement, morning laughter, and details as they happen, before transitioning into pure documentary mode for the ceremony. Using silent mirrorless shutters, I work discreetly from the sides and back of the room, focusing entirely on the raw emotion—the look on your faces when you see each other, the tears from family, and the joyful exit—without ever disrupting the moment.

As the day moves into the reception, my priority is keeping things relaxed and efficient. We will smoothly zip through any formal group photos in about 15 to 20 minutes so your guests can get back to their drinks, and later, we’ll slip away for just a brief 15-minute window during the soft afternoon light for some relaxed, unposed portraits. For the rest of the speeches and well into the evening party, I shift back into a fly-on-the-wall approach, staying on the dance floor to capture the high-energy, unscripted fun and genuine atmosphere exactly as it felt to be there.
